Sewanee Athletics Hall of Fame
Charlie Boyd was a member of the men's tennis program for four seasons and was a three-time All-SCAC selection. The SCAC also chose him for the league's 30th Anniversary team, announced in 2021.Â
During his sophomore year in 2007, along with his All-Conference selection, he was also invited to participate in the NCAA Singles Championships in St. Louis. Boyd captured All-America status with his 6-4, 5-7, 6-0 win over Ted Haley of Williams (Mass.) in the Round of 32. Boyd garnered Sewanee's first All-America award since 2003.
At the end of the season, Boyd was ranked 23rd nationally in Singles.Â
The next year, he was named to the SCAC All-Tournament Team at the No. 1 flight, and he finished runner-up in the All-SCAC voting.Â
Boyd also was an All-Tournament selection at the No. 1 flight during his senior year in 2009 and was ranked fourth on the final All-SCAC Team.Â
A two-time Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athlete, he was a member of the SCAC Academic Honor Roll three times.Â
