The 2007 Sewanee women's tennis team had the highest final national ranking of any Sewanee team in athletic department history … the Tigers posted a 23-2 record and finished the season ranked third … Sewanee's two losses came against 2007 National Champion Washington & Lee and national runner-up Amherst in the NCAA semifinals … during the season, Sewanee defeated seven top-20 teams (Carnegie Mellon, Swarthmore, Emory (twice), DePauw, Denison, and Williams) … the Tigers earned a trip to the Elite Eight after Sewanee defeated four-time defending National Champion Emory 5-4 in the NCAA Regional final … two players were ranked nationally in singles while one doubles team was ranked in the top-15 … the team featured two All-Americans, three All-SCAC players, five All-SCAC All-Tournament selections, four ITA National Scholar Athletes, the 2007 SCAC Coach of the Year, an NCAA Postgraduate Scholar, a CoSIDA Academic All-American, and the 2007 ITA National Rookie and National Senior Player of the Year award winners … additionally, Gabriela Carvalho (singles) and Carvalho/Laura Fanjoy (doubles) were ITA National finalist.
