Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (Sept. 27, 2015) – Two goals and an assist from senior captain Emma Horgan led the Sewanee field hockey team to a 4-1 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) win over Hendrix, Sunday, at Puett Field.
The Tigers remain unbeaten at 6-0 as they head into a key SAA road match at Centre, October 3.
Horgan netted her first goal when she deflected a blast by Katie Wilson off a corner in the 29th minute.
With Sewanee ahead 1-0 to start the second half, the Tigers' offense kept on the attack. Hannah Tompkins ripped in a shot from Luna Goodale only a minute into the half.
Horgan then made the score in favor of Sewanee at 3-0 when she lifted a ball into the back of the cage in the 38th minute.
The Tigers added their final goal when Horgan found Wilson on a corner in the 45th minute.
Hendrix scored its lone goal in the 62nd minute as Raychl Reger slipped a shot in the side of the cage off a corner from Vanessa Jasso.
Overall, Sewanee finished with 15-6 shot advantage and an 11-6 lead in corners.
