Box Score 2 SEWANEE, Tenn. (March 13, 2015) – The Sewanee women's lacrosse team stayed unbeaten with a pair of wins over visiting Illinois Wesleyan and Transylvania, Friday, at Puett Field.
The Tigers topped IWU in the afternoon 20-4 and then topped Transy 17-8 in the nightcap. Sewanee is now 6-0 this season.
In the contest against the Titans Sewanee scored early and often. The Tigers netted 16 first-half goals and then scored four more times after halftime.
During the contest freshman Relly King led the Tigers with four goals. Ellie Murphy and Kit Sommi added three scores while Molly Elkins and Payton Fields each scored twice. Additionally Janie Hannon, Mallory Grimm, Katie Riddle, Wittney Reed, Sally Anne Greenwood, and Sydney Beldock also scored.
Led by Greenwood and Alexis Crittenden, Sewanee's defense forced 28 turnovers and grabbed 26 ground balls.
In the match against Transy, the Tigers continued to roll. Sewanee jumped out to a 14-2 lead behind goals from Greenwood, King, Murphy, Grimm, Fields, Riddle, and Elkins. The Tigers then scored three more goals in the second half when Brita Brudvig, Alden Woolford, and Alexandra Huber ripped in shots.
In goal, sophomore Crawford Horan finished with five saves against IWU and six stops against Transy.
Sewanee continues its spring break homestand with a noon match Monday against Ramapo.
