Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (Oct. 24, 2014) – Despite fighting hard, three first-half goals were too tough to overcome as the Sewanee men's soccer team dropped a 4-2 match against Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Millsaps, Friday, at Puett Field.
After coming out strong, Sewanee had a bad stretch beginning around the 11th minute mark of the first half. During this time, Millsaps took advantage of its opportunity with three goals the next 12 minutes.
Sewanee's deficit would stay the same until early in the second half. Out of the locker room the Tigers played better. Fighting for each possession, Sewanee got on the board in the 58th minute when Chris Haberstroh blasted home a pass from Ramsey Seagle.
Despite Sewanee's outstanding effort, unfortunately Millsaps would score another goal when forward Alex Bourland fired a hard shot into the back of the net in the 79th minute.
Sewanee added one more goal in the 81st minute when Teddy Benjamin tapped in a loose ball.
Despite being outshot overall 16-12, Sewanee did have an advantage in second-half attempts at 9-5. The Tigers also finished with a 4-2 lead in corner kicks.
The Tigers close out their home schedule with a 3:30 p.m. match against Birmingham-Southern, Sunday.
