Men's soccer slated fourth in SAA Preseason Poll

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee's men's soccer team was picked fourth in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) preseason poll, as voted on by the league's nine head coaches. 

Trinity captured eight first-place votes for 72 points, while Southwestern captured on first place nod for 55 points in a tight race for second. Berry finished just behind the Pirates with 54 points, while Sewanee and Oglethorpe finished out the top five with 51 and 46 points, respectively. 

Trinity was picked to take home the title in 2025 but was upset by the Berry Vikings in the second round of the SAA Tournament. Trinity still earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament, where they finished as national runner-up. 

Sewanee returns two First-Team All-SAA and Third-Team All-Region selections, along with one Second-Team All-SAA selection and four Honorable Mention honorees. The Tigers will open the 2026 season at home against No. 4-ranked Emory on Sept. 1 at 5 p.m. Sewanee will host Rhodes and Millsaps on Oct. 2 and 4, respectively, for their first conference weekend at Puett Field.

The 2026 SAA Men's Soccer Championship is slated for November 5-8 in Atlanta, Ga., at Oglethorpe University.
