Box Score CONWAY, Ark. (Oct. 11, 2014) – Three second-half goals lifted the Sewanee field hockey team past Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Hendrix 3-2, Saturday, at Warrior Field.
Despite being down 2-0 at halftime, goals by Katie Wilson, Sarah Barry, and Virginia Barry in the final 35 minutes pushed Sewanee in front.
Wilson opened the comeback when she blasted in a shot off a pass from Allegra Massey-Elim. Then later in the half, Barry tied the match at 2-2 when she found the back of the cage from teammate Carrie Anderson in the 63rd minute.
Five minutes later it was Virginia Barry's turn, as the first-year midfielder tapped in a rebound for the game-winning goal.
Overall, Sewanee posted more shots than Hendrix. The Tigers doubled-up the Warriors 24-12 on attempts. Sewanee also finished with a 10-4 advantage in corners.
On defense, Katya Waters earned the win after she posted a second-half shutout with four saves.
Sewanee continues its season with its third match in three days when the Tigers take on Roanoke on Hendrix's campus at 11:00 a.m., Sunday.
