SEWANEE, Tenn. - The University of the South women's lacrosse team, after a weekend split in Minnesota, opens the 2022 home schedule this weekend with contests against Piedmont and Huntingdon, from Puett Field.
2021 RECAP: Sewanee women's lacrosse went 2-2 in the shortened 2021 season, posting wins of Transylvania and Birmingham-Southern.
SAA PRESEASON POLL: Beginning in the 2021-22 season, the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) will start preseason polls for each of its 21 sponsored sports. On Friday, Feb. 4, the women's lacrosse preseason poll was released. Voted by the head coaches, the Tigers were listed in third place with 37 points.
Rhodes, the six-time SAA Champions, secured the top spot with six first-place votes and 48 points, followed by Centre, who recorded one first-place vote and 40 total points.

FOGARTY TO 100: Hattie Fogarty earned her 100th career point in Sewanee's 20-1 victory of Augsburg on Sunday, Feb. 20. According to acquired records, she becomes the 14th player in program history to achieve 100 career points.
The Memphis native currently has 104 points thanks to 63 goals and 41 assists. She's also eyeing another stat to hit the century mark in draw controls. She currently sits at 96, and when she achieves the milestone, she'll be the fifth player to achieve this milestone.
DUAL-SPORT ATHLETES: Our women's lacrosse team has a couple of athletes who are dual-sport athletes:
Lizzie Chamberlin (equestrian),
Morgan Day (field hockey), and
Ellie Tate Schutte (field hockey).
#Sewanee2024: Because of the pandemic, we were unable to highlight our freshmen student-athletes of the Class of 2024. As the 2022 season begins this weekend, the women's lacrosse program "officially" welcomes four sophomores to the program:

NON-CONFERENCE GAME TO WATCH: The Tigers will play five games in a seven-day span between March 5-11, all coming at home. Sewanee will face St. Mary's (Ind.) on Monday, March 7. St. Mary's won the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Tournament last spring and earned a bid into the NCAA Tournament.
CONFERENCE GAME TO WATCH: Sewanee will travel to Rhodes on Sunday, March 27 at noon. The Tigers will seek its first win over the Lynx since 2015, when they won, 12-11 at home. Sewanee will be looking for its first win in Memphis since 2014 (15-4).
