Tudor named Rookie of Year, Hickton wins Coach of Year for men's golf

SEWANEE, Tenn.Aidan Tudor earned Rookie of the Year honors while Keenan Hickton was named Coach of the Year and senior Elias Becker, sophomores Turner Chiles and Niel Phillips and Tudor were all voted First Team All-SAA, as announced Sunday at the conclusion of the SAA Men's Golf Championships at Greystone Golf Club in Dickson, Tenn.
 
In addition, seniors Colin Edwards and Will Brookby garnered Second Team All-SAA accolades and Brookby was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.
 
Sewanee won its second straight team championship under Hickton, setting a championship record for lowest team score (837). Every round that counted toward the team score was under-par over the three days at the SAA Championships.
 
Tudor registered five Top 15 finishes in 10 events this season, tying for 12th at the Savannah Invitational in March, placing third at the Discover Dekalb Emory Invitational and tying for fifth at the SAA Championships. The New Market, Md., native collected 13 rounds of par of better and five rounds in the 60s. He registered a 72.8 scoring average in 28 rounds this year.
 
Becker finished in the Top 15 in five tournaments this academic year, winning the Gate City Invitational in September, placing fourth at the Discover Dekalb Emory Invitational and tying for second at the SAA Championships. The Mexico City, Mexico, native registered 13 rounds of par or better, including five rounds in the 60s. He currently has a 72.9 scoring average over 28 rounds this season.
 
Chiles placed in the Top 16 in five events this academic year, tying for sixth at the NCAA DIII Preview in September, winning the Jekyll Island Collegiate last month and tying for second at the SAA Championships. The Houston, Texas, native registered 13 rounds of par or better with six rounds in the 60s, posting a 72.7 scoring average in 28 rounds this year.
 
Phillips finished in the Top 20 three times this academic year, tying for 14th at the Chick-fil-A Invitational in October, tying for 17th at the Discover Dekalb Emory Invitational and tying for fifth at the SAA Championships. The New Orleans, La., native recorded seven rounds of par or better, posting a 75.6 scoring average in 21 rounds.
 
Edwards placed in the Top 15 in four tournaments this season, tying for fifth at the Gate City Invitational, tying for sixth at the Capitol City Classic and tying for 10th at the Discover Dekalb Emory Invitational, the latter two events earlier this month. The Brookhaven, Ga., native tied for 13th at the SAA Championships, carding three straight rounds of even-par. He tallied 11 rounds of 72 or better in 28 total rounds this academic year, recording a 73.7 scoring average.
 
Brookby played in four events this academic year, including three this spring, registering a 75.5 scoring average in 11 rounds. The Houston, Texas, native carded rounds of 72-73-70 in the SAA Championships, tying for 10th, and posted one other round of par last month.
