Keenan Hickton

Keenan Hickton begins his first year as head coach for Sewanee men’s golf for the 2024-25 academic year.

Hickton served the last six years as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Emory University, including one tournament (the 2018-19 Fall Preview) as interim head coach. Emory won that Fall Preview by 24 strokes.

During his stint as assistant coach, the Eagles held a six-year head-to-head record of 812-109 for a winning percentage of 88.2 percent. Emory earned its first-ever No.1 national ranking on GolfStat, spent nearly the entire time inside the Top 5, won 22 tournaments overall, including winning three of the four conference championships contested in the University Athletic Association (UAA). The 2020 and 2021 championships were canceled due to COVID-19.

Emory placed fifth in the NCAA Championships in 2022, 11th in 2023 and third this past season, a school record. Over six years, Hickton has coached three UAA Players of the Year, one National Freshman of the Year and one National Player of the Year and Arnold Palmer Cupper Jackson Klutznick. Former Emory All-Americans Matt Organisak and Max Schwarz made their professional debuts on the PGA Korn Ferry Tour.

As a player, the Pittsburgh, Pa., native won three UAA team championships, earning First Team All-Conference honors as a junior and senior and Second Team accolades as a sophomore. He garnered Tournament MVP laurels as a senior. He closed out his career in the No. 9 spot on the school's all-time scoring list with over 88 rounds of competition. In his senior season, he averaged 74.4 over 25 rounds of competition, including a 4-under-par 209 (70-69-70) at the Golfweek DIII Fall Invitational.

As a student-athlete, he was a two-time member of the Srixon/Cleveland Golf Division III All-Scholar Team (an award only juniors and seniors are eligible to earn).

Hickton earned his bachelor's in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Emory in 2018.
