Tudor, Becker each shoot 3-under; Tiger men remain in first at league tourney

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Freshman Aidan Tudor and senior Elias Becker both carded rounds of three-under while Tudor, sophomore Turner Chiles and Becker are 1-2-3 in the individual standings, helping Sewanee to the team lead after the second round of the SAA Men's Golf Championships on Saturday at Greystone Golf Club in Dickson, Tenn.
 
The Tigers will carry a 12-stroke advantage into the final round in front of Trinity University and 15 shots ahead of Oglethorpe University.
 
All of the Sewanee players started their rounds at No. 1.
 
Tudor recorded four birdies on the front nine, on holes four, five, eight and nine, but also double bogeyed No. 8. The New Market, Md., native collected eight pars with a birdie on the par-5 17th hole on the back for a three-under 69 and first place individually at seven-under over two rounds, one shot in front of Chiles.
 
Becker posted birdies on three and five along with one bogey on the front nine. The Mexico City, Mexico, native birdied three of the first five holes on the back – holes 10, 12 and 14 – with the only blemish a bogey at 15, for his three-under round of 69. Becker is two strokes behind Tudor in third place at five-under over 36 holes.
 
Chiles collected birdies on three of the final five holes on the front nine but also made one bogey. The Houston, Texas, native was more up-and-down on the back with bogeys on holes 10, 13 and 14, but he birdied 11 as well as 16 and 17, finishing at two-under for the day and a 36-hole score of six-under for second place individually.
 
Sophomore Niel Phillips birdied the first and last holes on the front nine and made six pars with one bogey. The New Orleans, La., native added six more pars on the back with a birdie at No. 17 and two bogeys for an even-par 72 and a two-day total of one-under, tied for ninth.
 
Senior Colin Edwards carded his second straight round of even-par, registering eight pars with one bogey on the front nine. The Brookhaven, Ga., native bogeyed No. 13 but followed that with a birdie at 14. He then eagled the par-5 17th hole but bogeyed the last and is tied for 12th with a 36-hole score of 144.
 
Senior Will Brookby birdied holes two and nine but bogeyed three straight from 4-6 on the front nine. The Houston, Texas, native started birdie-bogey on the back and also bogeyed No. 15, but he also eagled No. 17, only to follow it with another bogey for a one-over 73 and a two-day total of 145, tied for 14th.
