Men's soccer sweeps conference awards

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Grayson White and Nathan Vanhoeve swept the first Southern Athletic Association Player of the Week awards of the 2025 fall season after standout performances for Sewanee men's soccer. The Tigers opened the year with a scoreless draw against Montclair State on Friday before a commanding 4-0 victory over No. 18 Johns Hopkins on Saturday.

White powered the Sewanee attack in the Hopkins match, scoring twice in under a minute. He found the back of the net in the 69th minute off a feed from Wells Durham following a turnover in the offensive third, then converted a penalty kick just 36 seconds later.

In goal, Vanhoeve anchored the Tiger defense with back-to-back shutouts, the eighth and ninth clean sheets of his career. He tallied four saves on nine shots against Montclair State and added five saves on 12 attempts in the win over Johns Hopkins.
The Tigers return to action Wednesday against Berea before hosting Southern Virginia on Saturday afternoon.
