SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee's
Grayson White earned SAA Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors Monday after posting four goals in two matches for the Tigers.
The Columbia, S.C., native collected a hat trick in a 3-3 draw against Maryville College. The sophomore found the back of the net less than two minutes into the second half with Sewanee trailing 2-0 after
Noah Bjorkman chested a ball down to White, whose right-footed shot to the far post hit the side net.
White's second goal, in the 54
th minute, came after a great ball from
Tyler Scott, with White left-footing a shot from near the top left corner of the box to the near post, hitting the post and caroming into the opposite side net.
The game-tying goal was via a PK with just 23 seconds remaining in the match after Maryville was called for a hand ball in the box.
In a win versus Talladega College,
Ian Cox delivered a ball down the left side in the 44
th minute to
Luke Manley, who played a low cross to
White and he one-timed it to the far post for his sixth of the year.
Sewanee finishes a seven-match homestand to begin the season this Tuesday with a 7 p.m. kickoff against Covenant College at Puett Field.
