SEWANEE, Tenn. –
Stokes McConnell and
Tyler Scott each scored a pair of goals and
Wells Durham handed out three assists, as Sewanee posted four goals in the first half and never looked back in a 6-0 win against Talladega College in men's soccer action here Saturday at Puett Field.
The Tigers (4-0-2) netted three goals in the final eight minutes of the first half to take control of the match, with McConnell recording the first two. Scott added his second goal to start the second half and Lörinc Loboda registered the final score for Sewanee.
Durham handed out assists on the first goal of the match, scored by Scott, and then on the two second-half goals. The Tigers tallied a 26-4 advantage in shots, forcing eight saves by Talladega goalkeeper Tariq Singh.
Durham was fouled near the corner flag in the sixth minute and delivered a great cross to the far post where Scott headed in the goal for an early edge for the Tigers.
Despite a lopsided margin in possession and shots, Sewanee was unable to find the back of the net again until late in the half but then netted three goals in the final eight minutes of the period.
Dominic Desmond played a ball down the left side to McConnell, who dribbled toward the middle and beat Singh low and left, just inside the near post, in the 38
th minute.
Just over two minutes later McConnell was held in the box on a shot attempt, drawing a penalty kick. He converted the PK in the 40
th minute, extending the advantage to 3-0.

Ian Cox delivered a ball down the left side to
Luke Manley, who controlled the ball and played a low cross to
Grayson White, who one-timed it to the far post, his sixth of the year and fourth this week, pushing the lead to 4-0 at the break.
Durham took a free kick from just outside the box on the right in the 55
th minute, finding Scott near the penalty spot. Scott and Singh collided but the ball got past the keeper and rolled into the net.
Durham then handed out the final assist, a back-heel pass to Loboda in the 58
th minute.
Sewanee finishes a seven-match homestand Tuesday, taking on Covenant College at 7 p.m.
