Men's golf ranked fifth by Clippd, three players appear individually

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee men's golf is ranked fifth while seniors Colin Edwards and Elias Becker and sophomore Turner Chiles all rank in the Top 50 individually in the first Scoreboard Powered by Clippd rankings released this week.

The Tigers won the Gate City Invitational in Greensboro, N.C., to open the fall schedule and finished 11th at the NCAA Fall Preview in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., the following week. Sewanee pulled out of the team portion of the Tartan Invitational this week because of sickness on the club, but the five individuals played well enough for the squad to post the seventh-best score if the scores were counted.

Edwards ranks 34th nationally while Chiles comes in at No. 38 and Becker is ranked 42nd.

Edwards tied for fifth at the Gate City and tied for 19th at the Tartan and has played 8-of-9 rounds at 75 or better this fall. Chiles tied for sixth at the NCAA Preview thanks to a pair of 69's and tied for 29th at the Tartan. Becker tied for first individually at the Gate City, finishing at six-under par over 54 holes.

Sewanee finishes the fall campaign October 26-27 at the O'Briant Jensen Memorial in Greensboro, N.C.
