IHSA Takes First in Day 1 of Sewanee Spring Show

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Mollie McWhorter was named High Point Rider and Nell Grady captured Reserve High Point Rider as the Tigers won High Point Team on day one of the Sewanee Spring Show in Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) action.

Sewanee ended the day with 37 points, 11 points higher than Murray State in second place.

Two Sewanee riders qualified for regionals, McWhorter in Limit Fences and Emma Sameth in Open Flat and Fences.

In the Open category, both Sameth and Grady placed in the top three in both the flat and fences. Grady placed first and second in the flat and fences respectively, and Sameth took second and third in the respective categories.

McWhorter placed first in the Limit Fences, and Laura-Ann Moore took second. In the Limit Flat, London Eller places sixth.

In the Novice Division, Belle Gampher took first and Dechanaa Ramesh placed fifth.

In the Pre-Novice Division, Bailey Pezzella and Maren Colbert took home first and second, respectively, for Sewanee.

Finally, in the introductory division, Abdul Maflahi captured second and Hannah Fitzgerald finished third.
