Sameth claims High Point Rider Honors as Sewanee leads day two at MTSU Show

SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Sewanee IHSA equestrian team turned in another strong performance on day two of the Middle Tennessee Show on Sunday, finishing as the High Point Team with 33 points and extending its lead in the overall region standings.

Sewanee placed riders across multiple divisions, highlighted by Emma Sameth's first-place finishes in both Open Fences and Open Flat to earn High Point Rider honors for the day. Sameth's consistency at the top of the lineup set the tone as the Tigers continued to rack up valuable team points.

In Open Fences, Sameth took first, while Isabella Fioretti followed with a third-place finish. Fioretti also added a fourth-place ride in Intermediate Flat. Maeve Raible placed third in Limit Fences, and Isabelle Gentle finished fourth in the same division.

On the flat, Kelly Baumgart earned third in Open Flat behind Sameth's winning ride. Bailey Pezzella captured first place in Limit Flat, while Gentle placed second and London Eller finished sixth. Lauren Scanlon added a fifth-place finish in Novice, and Abdul Maflahi took fourth in Pre-Novice. In the Introduction division, Isabela Cancado claimed first place for the Tigers.

Sewanee's 33 team points topped the field on day two, ahead of Middle Tennessee State University (27), Maryville College (26), Murray State University (22), Tennessee Tech University (14), University of Tennessee, Knoxville (9), and Carson-Newman University (4).

Through the weekend, Sewanee sits atop the overall region team standings with 227 points, followed by Middle Tennessee State (153), Maryville (145), Murray State (122), University of Tennessee, Knoxville (80), Carson-Newman (49), and Tennessee Tech (14).
