Tigers Capture Regional Title with Perfect Season; Five Advance to Individual Regionals

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee's IHSA equestrian team finished the season undefeated and captured the Zone 5, Region 1 Regional Championship on Saturday morning.

The Tigers won all eight regular-season competitions, finishing with 312 points. MTSU placed second with 210 points.

Sewanee will head to Zones at SCAD for a chance to qualify for the National Championship.

Emma Sameth was named the overall High Point Rider of Zone 5, Region 1 and will advance to Zones with an opportunity to qualify for the Cacchione Cup at the National Championship.

Kelly Baumgart finished third overall in the High Point Rider standings.

The Tigers had five riders qualify for the IHSA Individual Regional Championships, which Sewanee will host on Sunday, March 8.

In open fences, Sameth and Isabella Fioretti qualified, while Sameth and Baumgart qualified in open flat.

In limit flat, Elise Gierhart and London Eller qualified for the Tigers.
