Sameth wins open fences, IHSA places fourth at Zones

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Emma Sameth won individual fences, and Lily Carter won the team intermediate fences division as Sewanee's IHSA equestrian team competed at the Zone 5 Championships at SCAD on Saturday morning.

Sameth won the open fences division and will represent Sewanee at Nationals in Tryon, N.C. As a team, the Tigers were fourth with 32 points.

Sameth individually qualified to compete in open flat and open fences for the Tigers, while Sewanee's IHSA team also competed at zones.

Carter was second in intermediate fences and limit flat, while Sameth was second in open fences and fourth in open flat. Elise Gierhart added a fourth-place finish in intermediate flat, while Abdul Maflahi came in third in the novice flat division. Caroline Holland added a second-place finish for the Tigers in introductory flat.
