Sameth takes High Point honors as Sewanee finishes first in the first day of IHSA Maryville Show

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Emma Sameth took home the overall high-point champion rider as Sewanee's Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) took home first place on the first day of the Maryville Fall Show in Maryville, Tenn on Saturday morning.

Sewanee's equestrian team finished first of seven teams, with 35 points, five ahead of Maryville.

Freshman, Emma Sameth excelled on day one as she placed 1st in open fences and second in the open flat division, taking the overall high-point rider of the show.

Sophomore, London Eller placed second in the novice flat division, qualifying her for the regional championships. Her placing has qualified her to compete in the Limit Division.

Senior, Nell Grady finished second in intermediate fences and fourth in open flat. In the intermediate flat division two Sewanee riders placed, Jenna McAmis came in second and Kelly Baumgart finished fourth.

In the Limit division, Claire Dillard finished fourth in fences and fifth in flat.

Freshman, Hannah Fitzgerald placed first in the introductory division for the Tigers.

The Tigers compete in the second day of the tournament on Sunday against the same teams, Maryville, Murray State, University of Tennessee Knoxville, Middle Tennessee State University, Western Kentucky, and Tennessee Tech.
