Sewanee, Tenn: On Monday, November 7th, the SAA released their 2022 all conference teams. Sewanee was well represented, placing seven total players across the three teams, and earning a major award.
Tyler Scott was named 2022 Newcomer of the Year, as well as Second Team All SAA.
Zach Shunnarah and
Trevor Reichman were both named First Team All SAA. Scott,
Tyler Cozzie, and
JP Furman were named Second Team, and
David Edge and
Will Hawgood were named Honorable Mention All SAA.
Tyler Scott - Newcomer of the Year - Second Team All SAA: The Freshman from Charlotte, NC made in an instant impact in his first season on the Mountain, starting all 17 games for the Tigers this season. He was an anchor on one of the best defenses in the conference, a defense that at one point in the season posted six shutouts in a row, and 11 total. He played all 90 minutes in 15 of 17 games. He is the first Sewanee player to win Newcomer of the Year.
Zach Shunnarah - First Team All SAA: A Senior from Birmingham, AL, Shunnarah was the leader for the Tigers all season. Starting all 17 games, and going the distance in 13 of them, Shunnarah was the leader of a defense who went six straight games without conceding a goal, and posted 11 total shutouts. Shunnarah was also the designated penalty kick taker for the Tigers, as he went 2/2 on PKs this season, inlcuding one to defeat Centre in the SAA Semi Finals. This is Shunnarah's second All SAA selection.Â
Trevor Reichman - First Team All SAA: The Sophomore from Toronto, Ontario had a standout second campaign, as he led the team in goals with nine, and in points with 19. His nine goals are good for third in the conference, and his 19 points put him fourth in the SAA. He had two goal performances against LaGrange and Huntingdon, and scored the game winning goal against LaGrange and Huntingdon.Â
JP Furman - Second Team All SAA: The Senior from Mandeville, LA was a rock for the Tigers in goal. He posted 11 shutouts, and started all 17 games for Sewanee. He logged 1440 minutes in goal for the Tigers, and posted a .500 goals against average, good enough for second in the conference. His 43 saves were good enough for third in the conference. He posted a career high 10 saves in a loss to Hendrix.Â
Tyler Cozzie - Second Team All SAA: A Sophomore from Raleigh, NC, Cozzie was the man the Tigers tunred to when a big goal was needed. Cozzie scored a conference best four game winning goals, including a stretch of three straight game winning goals against Belhaven, Huntingdon, and Berry, He also scored the game winner against Centre. He scored an additional goal against Belhaven and added assists against Berry, Covenant, and LaGrange.Â
David Edge - Honorable Mention All SAA: The Junior Midfielder from Clayton, NC was a force in the middle of the field for the Tigers all season. His four assists were tied for first on the team, and he added two goals to go with it, including a game winning goal against Covenant. This is Edge's second All SAA selection.
Will Hawgood - Honorable Mention All SAA: A Sophomore Midfielder from Cincinnati, OH, Hawgood was a key piece of the Tigers attack. A facilitator in the middle of the field, Hawgood was vital in helping Sewanee create scoring chances. He finished with three goals and one assist, scoring against Maryville, Piedmont, and Covenant. Hoawgood notched an assist against Berry.Â
