Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. - The University of the South women's lacrosse team evened the contest at seven each with 26:37 left in the second half, but the University of Montevallo outscored the hosts, 10-2, the rest of the way as the Falcons downed the Tigers, 17-9, Saturday afternoon from Puett Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Sewanee took an early 3-2 lead after back-to-back goals by
Lizzie Chamberlin and
Hattie Fogarty with 16:43 left in the opening half.
-The Falcons responded with three straight goals to reclaim the lead. After a Sewanee yellow card, Montevallo posted a man-up free position goal with 13:16 left in the half before adding two more, 5-3 with 7:45 left in the period.
-The teams traded goals the rest of the half, with the visitors maintaining a 7-5 advantage at the break.
-Sewanee came out strong in the second half. After a Fogarty goal from
Haley Lewis,
Sarah Strand evened the score once again with a free position goal 3:23 into the period.
-However, the Falcons turned on the offense, scoring the next six goals to put the contest away. Additionally, UM's defense held Sewanee to no goals in almost a 10-minute span.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS

Hattie Fogarty posted four points with three goals and an assist for her second hat trick in as many games.

Sarah Strand and
Hadley Meadows each scored twice for Sewanee, while Strand added three forced turnovers and won six draws.

Ellie Tate Schutte also forced three turnovers and collected five ground balls.

Amanda Jenkins (1-1) saved four shots and scooped six ground balls in 30 minutes in goals.
MONTEVALLO KEY STATISTICS
-Anja Kuys scored six times on seven shots, won nine draw controls and forced three turnovers in the win.
-Elizabeth Tyler caused four turnovers and scooped up six ground balls.
-Rachel Rose (2-0) saved four shots in the second half to earn the win between the pipes.
-The Falcons kept the Tigers away from the crease for most of the second half, allowing eight shots and won 12-of-15 clear attempts.
