Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. - Trailing 5-3 after 30 minutes of play, the Sewanee women's lacrosse team was able to get the lead with 12:27 left in regulation, but it was the visitors of Centre who escaped with an 8-7 win in overtime Saturday afternoon in the semifinals of the 2019 Southern Athletic Association Women's Lacrosse Tournament from Puett Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-After Sewanee's Temple Moore scored the first goal of the contest on a free position, the Colonels responded with four straight goals to lead 4-1 with 6:26 left in the opening half.
-Kelly Thomsen and Sarah Strand attempted to cut the deficit down, but it was the visitors who had the 5-3 advantage at the break.
-The story of the second half was the same as the first, except it was flipped. After Centre scored the first goal of the half with 26:05 left in the contest to extend the lead to 6-3, Sewanee responded with three straight goals.
-After a man-down goal by Hattie Fogarty from a Thomsen assist at the 21:26 mark, Thomsen took matters into her own hands. The senior netted two straight goals to even the score at six goals each. The equalizer came via a free position shot.
-With 12:27 left in regulation, Anna Comer, with a little help from Centre on a yellow card, netted a man-up goal on a free position to give the Purple and Gold their first lead of the game.
-However, it did not last long, as McKenna Hulette scored her second goal of the half with 10:25 remaining in regulation.
-The final 10 minutes of regulation became a defensive battle that went back and forth, but at the end of regulation, the contest was knotted up at seven goals apiece.
-With 2:42 left in overtime, Hulette netted the game-winner to advance Centre to the semifinals.
-The Colonels, who won 13 draws in the win, took both draws in the overtime period and did not allow Sewanee to take a shot.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Kelly Thomsen led the Tigers with four points thanks to a hat trick and an assist.
-Grace Fulton recorded 10 ground balls and forced four turnovers.
-Brianna Young (6-5) saved 10 shots in 63:18 between the pipes.
CENTRE KEY STATISTICS
-McKenna Hulette recorded the game-tying and game-winning goal for the Colonels, as she finished with three goals.
-Outdueling on the draw controls 13-5, Mary Katherine Hardy won seven draws.
-Lola Duff (14-4) saved nine shots in full time plus overtime.
-Centre advances to the SAA Tournament Championship next weekend at top-seed Rhodes, who dominated Hendrix, 26-6, in its semifinal contest.
