HOW IT HAPPENED
-The teams were held scoreless for the first 30 minutes of the match. That all changed when EMU's Dave Drafton scored off a Erik Peachey assist.
-The Royals did not allow a shot by the Tigers for more than 30 minutes, but then the visitors took off with seven shots in a 17-plus minute span.
-In the 73rd minute, Evan Poole netted his first goal off a Ethan Dutka assist to even the score at one goal apiece.
-The teams traded shots back-and-forth, but the teams would remain tied going into the extra period.
-During the first overtime, a lightning delay halted play. Once play resumed, Kyle Johnston found a remaining bolt of lightning, as he struck the back of the net off a Thompson Schollaert to win the match in the 97th minute.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Sewanee had just six shots on goal and allowed EMU to 12 total shots.
-Kyle Johnston led with seven shots, two on goal, and the game-winning goal.
-Evan Poole also scored a goal on two shots.
-James Murray (1-0) saved one shot in nearly 97 minutes of action in goal.
EASTERN MENNONITE KEY STATISTICS
-Jesus Trejo led the Royals with three shots, while Dave Drafton scored the lone goal. Drafton also recorded both shots on goal.
-Emmanuel Kampanga (0-1) saved four shots but suffered the loss.
