Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. - Despite a foggy, rainy Saturday afternoon, the Sewanee men's lacrosse team earned the victory over Guilford to open the home schedule on Saturday, fending off a late rally by the visitors to win 10-7 at historic Hardee-McGee Field at Harris Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Tigers limited the Quakers to one goal in each of the first three stanzas, and getting out to a 2-0 lead right away were goals by Thomas Lynde and Hayden Hunt.
-After a Guilford goal with less than seven minutes to go, Lynde saw the pass from Daniel Burnum for his second goal of the period to give the Tigers the 3-1 advantage.
-After a Sewanee penalty to start the second quarter, Guilford took advantage with a man-up goal to cut the visitors' deficit to one. However, the Tigers responded with goals by Hunt and Cameron Acuff to give Sewanee the 5-2 advantage at the half.
-Sewanee used a strong third period with four goals in the period to push the lead to 9-3. Goals were scored by Acuff, Daniel Burnum and two by Hunt.
-Guilford came out strong in the fourth quarter with three consecutive goals by George Faller in about a minute and a half span to cut the lead to 9-6.
-After a man-up goal by Aswan Bland, Sewanee had to refocus with their lead trimmed from six to two in nearly two minutes.
-Sewanee settled down, and used a Drew Crain goal to ice the victory.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Hayden Hunt netted four goals in the win for Sewanee on eight total shots.
-Cameron Acuff and Thomas Lynde each recorded two goals and an assist each.
-Daniel Burnum caused three turnovers on defense.
-Ryan Stubits took 12 of 18 faceoffs with eight ground balls.
-Bryce Womack (1-1) saved 10 of 17 shots in the win.
-As a team, the Tigers successfully recorded 19-of-20 clears and won 12-of-19 faceoffs.
GUILFORD KEY STATISTICS
-George Faller contributed to the comeback rally for Guilford, scoring all three of his goals within a minute and a half in the fourth quarter.
-Parker Styles (0-1) saved 11 shots in the cage for the Quakers.
