Sewanee Victorious Against Oberlin

RICHMOND, Ind. - The Sewanee field hockey team scored twice in both halves to take down Oberlin Sunday afternoon, 4-1, at Darrell Beane Stadium.

Two Tigers (3-1), Hannah Tompkins and Ceara Caffrey, provided the Tigers offense with two goals each in the win.

Thompkins netted the first two scores for Sewanee, both in the first half, with scores in the 15th minute and 31st minute.

Her first score of the season came on a Caffrey assist, while her second goal came unassisted.

Caffrey took over the scoring duties in the second half, with scores in the 43rd minute off a Jo Jo Young assist and 69th minute unassisted.

Oberlin (1-4) scored a goal in the 65th minute to avoid the shutout.

The Tigers defense stood tall in the contest, outshooting the Yeowomen, 16-3.

Katya Waters (2-1) played the first half for the Tigers, while Rachel Blum and Kadie Hicks split time in goal in the second half.

After the upcoming weekend off, the Tigers will open the home portion of the 2017 schedule with Lindenwood-Belleville. The match is slated for a 6 p.m. start on Sept. 22 at Puett Field.
