Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Sept. 5, 2016) – The Sewanee men's soccer team continued to showcase its offensive strength, Monday, as the Tigers improved to 3-0 this season with a 4-2 victory against Franklin on the campus of Birmingham-Southern College.
The Tigers have not scored less than four goals in any of their first three matches this season. Overall, the Tigers have outscored their opponents 16-3.
Sewanee jumped out front early as Max Hawes ripped in the opening goal in the eighth minute. Minutes later, freshman Alpo Sipillä converted an assist from Ramsey Seagle to push the Tigers ahead 2-0.
Early in the second half, Sewanee extended its advantage when Seagle scored off a pass from Kyle Johnston.
Freshman Tristan Carlson then capped off the Tigers' goals when his shot found the back of the net in the 75th minute.
Franklin added both of its goals during a 40-second span as Zanawl Thang and Conrad Bomber each scored.
Overall, Sewanee outshot Franklin 19-8. That included a 7-5 advantage in shots on goal.
The Tigers will look to extended their winning streak with a 6:00 p.m. contest, Friday at Puett Field against Fisk.
