Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (April 9, 2016) – A quick 6-0 lead the first 15 minutes of the game helped Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Rhodes to a 10-5 win over the Sewanee women's lacrosse team, Saturday, at Mason Field.
The Lynx led 6-0 after Ashley Doyle, Morgan Fuller, Kendall Cunningham, Annika Hedlund, and Ashley Dill all scored.
Sewanee finally answered back with two goals, one by Relly King and another by Payton Fields.
Unfortunately, Maggie Rippeto pushed the Rhodes lead to 7-2 at halftime when she ripped a shot in with only three seconds left.
In the second half, the Lynx kept rolling. Rhodes scored the first three goals, which built its lead to eight, 10-2. Sewanee closed the game with another goal by King, one by Katie Riddle, and another by Molly Elkins.
Overall, Sewanee struggled with possession. Rhodes finished with more groundballs, more draws, and fewer fouls.
Individually, King paced the offense with two goals and an assist.
Four players that scored twice led Rhodes. Additionally, the Lynx were balanced in their offensive third as six players finished with at least one goal.
Sewanee quickly returns to action with a 1:00 p.m. contest against Huntingdon, Sunday.
