Box Score WOOSTER, Ohio (March 5, 2016) – A quick start led Oberlin past the Sewanee women's lacrosse team, 15-9, Saturday, at John P. Papp Field.
The Tigers dropped to 3-3 overall while Oberlin improved to 3-0.
The Yeowomen opened the match by outscoring the Tigers 6-1 the opening 30 minutes. Goals by Sara Phister, Natalie Rauchle, and Maggie Mullard led Oberlin to a 4-0 lead by the 11:50 mark.
After senior Katie Riddle finally got Sewanee on the board, Oberlin finished the half with scores from Rauchle and Mullard.
In the second half, Sewanee played better. The Tigers had goals from Relly King, Catherine Crigler, Anna Cromer, Meredith Sackett, and Brooke Winfield.
Overall, the Yeomen outscored Sewanee 9-8 the final 30 minutes.
As a team, Sewanee was outshot 36-23. The Yeowomen also led in groundballs and draws.
Individually, Sackett, Riddle, and Crigler each led Sewanee with two goals. On defense, Mary Hannah Giddens finished with three caused turnovers while Alexis Crittenden forced two.
Mullard led Oberlin with five goals.
Sewanee quickly returns to action at Wooster, Sunday.
