Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (Feb. 28, 2016) – Behind a second straight outstanding offensive performance, the Sewanee women's lacrosse team rolled past visiting Adrian, 18-6, Sunday, at Puett Field.
The Tigers have now won back-to-back games and are 3-2 overall.
Sewanee opened by scoring 11 of the first 12 goals. During that stretch, Relly King, Sydney Beldock, Kit Sommi, Catherine Crigler, Hannah Tompkins, Isabel Burnett, and Meredith Sackett all scored.
After Adrian pulled to within nine, 11-2, the Tigers closed the opening half with goals by Kelly Thomsen and Tariro Kandemiri.
In the second half, the Tiger kept rolling. Goals by Katie Riddle, King, Kandemiri, and Tompkins closed out the scores.
Overall, Sewanee outshot Adrian 33-16. Additionally, the Tigers led in draws 17-8 and clears 13-9.
Playing every student-athlete that was available, Sewanee was led on offense by Tompkins, who finished with three goals and two assists. Crigler and King each posted three goals as well while Beldock and Kandemiri scored twice.
In goal, Crawford Horan and Brianna Young combined for five saves.
Sewanee returns to action with a noon (EST) match against Oberlin in Wooster, Ohio next Saturday.
