Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (March 9, 2015) – Behind six goals by Mallory Grimm and five from Relly King, the Sewanee women's lacrosse team scored early and often en route to a 22-16 win over visiting Wooster, Monday, at Puett Field.
The Tigers are a perfect 4-0 and are now averaging 17.5 goals per match this season.
Sewanee quickly jumped out to a 4-1 lead after early goals by Sally Anne Greenwood, Grimm, and Janie Hannon.
After Wooster pulled to within one, Sewanee answered back. Molly Elkins started an offensive spurt that had goals by King, Grimm, Ella Richardson, Greenwood, and Katie Riddle.
After halftime Shannan Pullara and Shelby Stone cut the Fighting Scots' deficit to five, 15-10 by the 28:28 mark.
However, Grimm would answer back for Sewanee four minutes later. That opened three straight goals by the Tigers, including two goals by King.
Along with those Tigers, Wittney Reed also scored in the second half for Sewanee.
Overall, Sewanee won the possession battle by earning 22 draw controls. The Tiger defense also forced 16 turnovers.
After a tough first half, Crawford Horan stepped up in the second half and finished with 14 saves. That included 12 key stops the final 30 minutes of action.
Sewanee continues with a noon match against Illinois Wesleyan on Friday.
