SEWANEE, Tenn. (March 8, 2015) – The Sewanee women's lacrosse team rolled over visiting Carthage 19-7, Sunday, at Puett Field.
The Tigers are now a perfect 3-0 this season after outscoring their opponents, 48-21.
Sewanee opened with 14 goals in the first half which allowed the Tigers to build a 10-goal lead by halftime. The Tigers then outscored Carthage in the second half by a 5-3 total.
Individually, freshman Relly King and senior Mallory Grimm both finished with four goals.
Additionally, Ellie Murphy and Sally Anne Greenwood added three scores while senior Janie Hannon pitched in two goals, one assist, and three groundballs. Also Brita Brudvig, Katie Riddle, and Molly Elkins all found the back of the net for Sewanee.
On defense, Melanie Matthews, Payton Fields, Eliza Havener, Riddle, Ella Richardson, Alden Woolford, Dori Wilson, and Elkins all had caused turnovers.
Finally King, Greenwood, Hannon, Richardson, Wilson, Kit Sommi, and Elkins all helped Sewanee hold a 17-11 edge in draw controls.
Sewanee will quickly return to action with a tough match against Wooster Monday at 5:00 p.m.
