SEWANEE, Tenn. (March 29, 2015) – The Sewanee women's lacrosse team crushed Southern Athletic Association (SAA) foe Berry 21-5, Sunday, on Senior Day at Puett Field.
The unbeaten Tigers are now 12-0 overall and a perfect 4-0 in league play.
The Tigers quickly built a 10-0 lead behind goals from Relly King, Wittney Reed, Ellie Murphy, Sally Anne Greenwood, Mallory Grimm, Katie Riddle, and Ella Richardson.
Berry fought back with three straight goals to cut its deficit to 10-3. However, Sewanee closed the half with another goal from King and one from Greenwood.
The Tigers kept rolling in the second half. Molly Elkins, King, Murphy, Janie Hannon, Richardson, Katie Jannotta, Grimm, and Greenwood helped Sewanee outscore Berry 9-1.
Overall Grimm led the attack with four goals on seven shots. Murphy and King both finished with three goals and two assists while Greenwood finished with three goals and an assist. Reed and Richardson both finished with multiple goals.
On defense Ricahrdson, Hannon, Payton Fields, Greenwood, Eliza Chapman, Elkins, and Kit Sommi all had caused turnovers.
In goal, Crawford Horan finished with 10 saves and has now won 12 games this season.
Sewanee will now face unbeaten rival Rhodes at 4:00 p.m., Friday.
