Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (March 20, 2015) – Behind 16 first-half goals the Sewanee women's lacrosse team earned a 23-9 win over Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Oglethorpe on a foggy Friday evening at Puett Field.
The Tigers are now 9-0 overall and a perfect 3-0 in league action.
Sewanee players that scored in the first half included Mallory Grimm, Ellie Murphy, Katie Riddle, Janie Hannon, Alden Woolford, Brita Brudvig, Sydney Beldock, and Elsie Spencer.
Leading 16-3 at halftime Brudvig, Relly King, Molly Elkins, Grimm, and Riddle also scored in the second half for the Tigers.
Overall, Grimm finished with six goals and three assists while Brudvig, Hannon, and Riddle each finished with three goals. Murphy and King also added double digit scores with two goals.
Led by Eliza Chapman's two caused turnovers and three groundballs, Sewanee' s defense forced 19 Oglethorpe miscues and limited the Stormy Petrels to three clear attempts.
Michelle Vasques led OU's offense with four goals and one assist.
Sewanee will look to remain perfect with an 11:00 a.m. match Sunday against Greensboro.
