Box Score MONTGOMERY, Ala. (March 19, 2015) – The Sewanee women's lacrosse team improved to 8-0 this season by crushing Huntingdon 21-6, Thursday, at Samford Stadium.
The Tigers netted 14 first-half goals and then added seven scores the final 35 minutes. On defense the Tigers limited Huntingdon to three goals each half while forcing 18 turnovers.
Sewanee was led on offense by Ellie Murphy who scored two goals and had a career-high six assists. Fellow Tigers Brita Brudvig, Mallory Grimm, and Katie Riddle scored three goals while Relly King and Sydney Beldock added two.
Additionally Janie Hannon, Katie Jannotta, Wittney Reed, Elsie Spencer, Alden Woolford, and Molly Elkins all scored.
Sewanee also dominated the draws winning 18 to go along with 15 clears and 34 shots.
On defense, Melanie Matthews, Reed, Alexandra Huber, and Kit Sommi all had caused turnovers while Crawford Horan finished with six saves.
Sewanee quickly returns to action with a 6:00 p.m. match against Southern Athletic Association (SAA) foe Oglethorpe, Friday.
