Box Score JACKSON, Miss. (Oct. 16, 2015) – Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Millsaps rallied back from a 2-0 deficit for a 3-2 comeback win over the Sewanee men's soccer team, Friday, at Harper Davis Field.
For the second straight match, Sewanee got off to a fast start. Forward Max Hawes put the Tigers on the board with an unassisted goal in the seventh minute.
Sewanee then got a lucky break as Millsaps netted an own goal three minutes later.
Unfortunately, that is when the match slowly shifted in favor of the Majors.
Millsaps cut its deficit to one late in the first half as Daniel Staursky scored off assists from Nat Edwards and Dimitri Staursky.
Early in the second half, Millsaps tied the score at 2-2 as Dimitri Staursky scored off a pass from Lukas Elmhammar.
The Majors then capped off their comeback when Nico Roth scored off Edwards's second assist of the evening.
Unfortunately, for Sewanee, Friday marked the second straight match the Tigers held an early lead only to lose the contest, 3-2.
Despite having a number of offensive possessions, Millsaps only had a 7-5 advantage in shots on goal.
Hawes and Luke Deimer, who each had two shots, led Sewanee on the attack. Keeper Will Merriman finished with four saves.
Sewanee returns to action with 2:30 p.m. match at Birmingham-Southern, Sunday.
