Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (Sept. 6, 2014) – A goal off a free kick just outside the top of the box by senior Walker Ueland helped the Sewanee men's soccer team complete an overtime 4-3 comeback win over visiting Piedmont, Saturday, at Puett Field.
The Tigers have now won back-to-back games while improving their record to 2-2.
After Piedmont jumped out front quickly with a pair of goals in the first 10 minutes, Sewanee responded when Ford Emerson was fouled inside the box. On the ensuing penalty kick, Emerson drove in the Tigers' first goal to pull Sewanee to within one score.
Down 2-1 to start the second half, Sewanee responded quickly. Forward Max Hawes ripped a shot into the goal to tie the match just minutes into the period.
Both teams would stay on the attack from there. Piedmont eventually pulled back in front, when Ryan Herbert tapped in a pass from Vincent Thomas in the 56th minute.
However, like they did all match, the Tigers kept fighting. With less than 20 minutes remaining freshman Ramsey Seagle scored off a pass from Ueland, which eventually sent the match into the extra golden goal period.
Overall, the match was physical with three yellow cards and a number of fouls.
Additionally, Sewanee also finished with a 17-12 shot advantage.
Sewanee continues its three-match homestand with a 7:00 p.m. contest against regional-rival Covenant, Friday.
