Box Score CONWAY, Ark. (Feb. 2, 2014) – The Sewanee women's basketball team dropped a 69-48 contest at Southern Athletic Association (SAA) foe Hendrix, Sunday, inside Grove Gymnasium.
The Tigers struggled from the field making only 31.4 percent of their attempts. In fact, Sunday marked the first game since Jan. 18 that Sewanee has not made at least 40 percent of its shots.
In the opening 20 minutes, Sewanee stayed close. Despite being down early, the Tigers rallied late in the first half. Down 28-17 with 4:32 left, Sewanee closed the half on a 8-4 run. During that stretch, Paige Lowe, Kayla Sewell, and Casey Hassett all scored.
Unfortunately, the Warriors opened the second half on a 9-0 run. Anna King was the key factor during that stretch. The Hendrix forward scored seven points.
After a jumper by Hassett, Hendrix kept rolling. The Warriors would eventually lead by 16, 55-39, with 7:16 to play.
From there, Hendrix would slowly stretch out its advantage for the win.
Individually, Hassett led the Tigers with 12 points. Lowe and Jamie Chauvin finished in double figures with 10 points each while Sewell added nine rebounds.
Caitlin Kriesel-Bigler led all players with a game-high 17 points. King added 11 while Katie Coughran finished with 12.
With its four-game road trip wrapped up, the Tigers return to action with a 6:00 p.m. contest against Berry, Friday.
