Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (Sept. 20, 2013) – Behind a strong offensive surge, the Sewanee men's soccer team scored a season-high three goals en route to a 3-1 victory over Tennessee Temple Friday evening at Puett Field.
With the win, Sewanee has now won three straight matches. With that winning streak, the Tigers improved to 3-3-2.
In the first half, Ford Emerson fired in Sewanee's first goal when he rocketed a shot past the Tennessee Temple keeper from teammate Ford Rushton.
After Sewanee just missed a number of scoring chances over the next 38 minutes, Chris Haberstroh netted the Tigers' second goal off a rebound shot from Griffin Smith.
Later in the match, Sewanee scored a third time when Rushton fired in a one-time shot off a long pass from William White.
Tennessee Temple would get its lone goal late in the second half when Eugene Emuze tapped in a serve from Mario Paiva.
Overall, the Tigers dominated the statistics. Sewanee outshot Temple, 23-7, and won the corner kick battle by three attempts.
Defensively, freshman keeper Holden Foster continued his stellar play in net. The first-year keeper has still not allowed a goal this season.
Sewanee will put its winning streak on the line with a 2:00 p.m. (EST) contest at Piedmont, Sunday.
