Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (March 20, 2013) – The Sewanee women's lacrosse team broke the school record for largest margin of victory, as the Tigers rolled past Benedictine 20-1 Wednesday at Puett Field.
The 19-goal difference was one better the 2010 team's 18-0 win over LaGrange for the program's most lopsided win.
Prior to the match both Sewanee and Benedictine took a moment to remember the recent tragedy that happen to the Seton Hill women's lacrosse team.
Additionally, the Tigers' players wore commemorative Crimson and Gold ribbons to honor Seton Hill coach Kristina Quigley and the others that lost their lives last Saturday.
The Tigers (6-4) quickly jumped out front by outscoring Benedictine 14-1 in the first half. After halftime, Sewanee kept rolling. The Tigers added six more goals to set up the final margin.
Mallory Grimm led the attack with four goals and two assists. Additionally, Brita Brudvig, Molly Arnold, Emily Hylton, Katie Riddle, Olivia Vietor, Ellie Murphy, Wittney Reed, Ella Richardson, Chelsea Staunton, and Caitlin-Jean Juricic also added scores.
On defense the Tigers forced 20 turnovers and allowed only seven shots.
Sewanee will now look to extend its winning streak to three with a 4:00 p.m. match against Pomona-Pitzer, Friday.
