Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (March 2, 2013) – On a snow covered Puett Field, the Sewanee women's lacrosse team took an early command of the SAA standings with a 14-8 victory over rival Centre, Saturday.
With the win, Sewanee is now 2-0 in conference play.
After a pair of early goals by the Colonels, Sewanee went to work. Scores from Brita Brudvig, Sally Anne Greenwood, Molly Arnold, Mallory Grimm, Wittney Reed, Ellie Murphy, and Katie Riddle capped off a 10-0 run to close the first half.
After a mini 6-1 scoring spurt by Centre in the second half, goals by Grimm and Vietor secured the victory in the final eight minutes.
Overall, Sewanee dominated the statistics. The Tigers won more draw controls, finished with more clears, and outshot the Colonels by three attempts.
Individually, Grimm finished with a match-high five goals while Greenwood added three.
Additionally, freshman Sammy Strasburger made a career-high 12 saves between the pipes.
Sewanee quickly returns to action against Carthage, Sunday. Draw control is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
