Women's lacrosse rebounds with a 9-7 win over FDU-Florham

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (March 13, 2013) – After two straight losses, the Sewanee women's lacrosse team rebounded with an impressive 9-7 win over FDU-Florham early Wednesday morning in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

After arriving for warm-ups as the sun rose, the Tigers wasted little time scoring as Molly Arnold netted the first goal with less than two minutes off the clock.

Minutes later, Mallory Grimm scored off a free position shot with 21:22 left until halftime.

After FDU-Florham tied the match at 2-2, Sally Anne Greenwood and Arnold gave Sewanee back the lead with a pair of goals.

As the half ticked down, additional scores by Greenwood and a goal by Olivia Vietor helped Sewanee to a three-point halftime lead, 7-4.

In the second half Sewanee put the match away, when Arnold and Vietor scored a pair of goals.

Overall, Sewanee did an outstanding job holding possession. The Tigers had their second fewest turnovers this season. Additionally, Sewanee had great balance offensively with seven players earning at least one point.

The Tigers return to action with a 5:30 p.m. match against Benedictine next Wednesday.
