Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (Feb. 28, 2013) – After making a long cross-country trip, Redlands showed very little lethargy as the Bulldogs used a strong offensive performance to down the Sewanee women's lacrosse team, 20-9, on a cold Thursday evening at Puett Field.
After two quick goals by Mallory Grimm and Sally Anne Greenwood, the Tigers' 2-0 advantage quickly vanished. The Bulldogs scored five straight goals over the next 10 minutes to take a 5-2 lead with 15:28 left until halftime.
Despite how the match turned, Sewanee did not quit. After a yellow card put the Tigers down a player, Sewanee found a way to stay close after Greenwood and Olivia Vietor netted back-to-back shorthanded goals.
Unfortunately, any momentum that Sewanee gained was short lived after Redlands closed the half on a 5-1 run.
Out of the locker room the Bulldogs kept their quick scoring pace. Redlands scored six of the first seven goals to put the match away.
Despite the loss, Greenwood finished with four goals while Ellie Murphy added two. Additionally, Vietor, Grimm, and Molly Arnold also scored.
The Tigers (2-2) will now look to rebound against Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Centre, Saturday. That match is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m., at Puett Field.
