Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (Sept. 22, 2012) – An early first-half goal by Greenville proved to be the difference, as the Sewanee men's soccer team fell to the Panthers 1-0, Saturday night, at Puett Field.
With the loss, Sewanee wrapped up the Kyle Rote Jr. Invitational in third place. Greenville finished the event in second, while Covenant College, who won both of its matches, finished first.
Greenville broke the scoreless tie, when Daniel Ruder scored the only goal in the 12th minute.
Despite a valiant effort by the Tigers, Sewanee could not push any of its 10 shot attempts past Greenville keeper Thomas Crown.
Individually, midfielder Ford Emerson led the Sewanee attack with four shots.
The Tigers will continue their three-match homestand with a 6:00 p.m., match Wednesday, against Emory.
