The visitors from Adrian College snapped Sewanee's seven-game win streak with a 24-14 victory in women's lacrosse action. The physical matchup between the Bulldogs and the Tigers resulted in nine yellow cards and 58 fouls. Leading the way for Sewanee was junior
Megan Welton with five goals and one assist.
Sewanee got off to a 2-0 lead with early goals from senior
Allison Bland and sophomore
Molly Arnold. The Bulldogs responded with six unanswered goals and never relinquished their lead. They led the Tigers by a score of 10-4 at halftime. Sewanee got on the board early in the second half with a goal only 21 seconds in by senior
Carly Grimm. Adrian took control and scored three more goals, until Sewanee fired back with two unassisted goals by Bland and a free position goal from Arnold. Sewanee and Adrian traded goals back and forth until Adrian went on a four-goal streak and then a three-goal streak to seal the victory.
Welton was the high scorer for Sewanee with five goals and one assist, and Arnold chipped in four goals. Bland netted three goals and Grimm added two.
Senior Hanna Moran and junior Sarah Squire corralled three ground balls apiece and junior Goalie Amy Nusbaum had 11 stops for the Tigers. Moran and senior Victoria Friedman picked up four draw controls each.
