The Sewanee Women's Lacrosse team started the day with a 16-13 loss to Pomona-Pitzer in Dallas, Texas. Going into halftime, the Tigers were down 9-7, and the Sagehens never relinquished the lead to hand Sewanee the loss in their first away game of the season.
Junior Meg Welton (Germantown, Tenn., Houston ) was Sewanee's high scorer on the morning with five goals and one assist. Senior Allison Bland (Houston, Texas, St. John's) added four goals and one assist, while junior Mary Grace Bowring (Lexington, Va., Rockbridge County High School) chipped in two goals for the Tigers. Sophomore Olivia Vietor (Bethesda, Md., Episcopal) and senior Megan Velie (Charlottesville, Va., St. Anne's Belfield) contributed a goal apiece, and junior Page Carpenter (Baltimore, Md., St. Paul's School for Girls) recorded two assists.
Senior Hanna Moran (Towson, Md., Towson) picked up a team-high five groundballs for the Tigers, and Sewanee goalkeepers Amy Nusbaum (Norfolk, Va., Norfolk Academy) and Theresa Monypeny (Memphis, Tenn., Hutchison) combined for six saves in the loss.

In their second match-up of the day, the Tigers defeated University of Dallas handily by a score of 22-7. Page Carpenter scored a team-high five goals, including a goal with one second on the clock to end the game.
Meg Welton added four goals and one assist for the Tigers, while Meg Velie and Allison Bland each had two goals and two assists. Olivia Vietor and Mary Grace Bowring notched one goal and one assist each. Freshmen Caitlin-Jean Juricic (Michigan City, Ind., Culver Academy) and Chelsea Staunton (Charlottesville, Va., St. Anne's Belfield) scored two goals apiece, while junior Shelby Bartlett (Summit, N.J., The Pingry School) and senior Carly Grimm (South Salem, N.Y., John Jay) pitched in with one goal each.
Sewanee goalkeepers Amy Nusbaum and Theresa Monypeny recorded four and three saves, respectively. Staunton had 4 draw controls for the Tigers, and Velie, Grimm, Staunton, and Vietor picked up 3 groundballs each for the Tigers.
Sewanee's record stands at 3-3 on the season. The Tigers remain in Dallas and take the field again on Thursday to take on Nazareth. Game time is 11 A.M.
