Despite late rally Sewanee falls 2-1 at BSC

Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Oct. 28, 2011) –  Despite a late goal by junior Sam Edoung-Biyo the Sewanee men's soccer fell 2-1 to SCAC rival Birmingham-Southern Friday night at the BSC Soccer Complex.
 
With the loss, Sewanee evened its overall record to 7-7-2, while the Tigers now sit with a 2-5-1 mark in league action.
 
As play opened BSC got its first goal on the team's opening shot by Tony Crocker. On the play teammate Garner Shivers found Crocker, who slid the ball past Sewanee keeper Derek Williams.
 
Later in the half, BSC added its second score of the night after Shivers was this time of the receiving in of a pass from Emil Saevarsson.
 
After neither team found the back of the net from most of the second period, Biyo pulled the Tigers within one with only two minutes remaining in the match.
 
Statistically, both teams were fairly even, after BSC edged Sewanee out with a 9-8 advantage in shots. At the same time both team's keepers had five saves on the evening, while Sewanee held a slight 5-4 mark in corner kicks.
 
The Tigers will close out their 2011 season at No. 24 Oglethorpe, Sunday.
