Goodwin Goal Late Gives Sewanee OT Men's Soccer Win

SEWANEE, Tenn. -- Sewanee Hosted DePauw in its opening SCAC conference match and in the second overtime period (108th minute), newcomer Zack Goodwin (Mobile, Ala., St. Paul's) scored unassisted to give Sewanee the 2-1 overtime edge.

DePauw took the lead in the first half on an unassisted Brad Kean goal. In the second period, Garrett Schlosser (Nashville, Tenn., MLK) scored on a Matt Lightfoot (Germantown, Tenn., Germantown) assist to even the score at 1-1, which would last through regulation. Goodwin's goal ended the sudden death overtime second period.

Sewanee took 14 shots, compared to 19 for DePauw. In goal, freshman Chris Grover (Collierville, Tenn., St. George's) earned the win with eight saves on the day. Nate Sprenkel had three saves for DePauw.

Sewanee is 5-2 and 1-0 in the SCAC. The Tigers will host Centre on Sunday at noon. DePauw is 3-2-1 and will face Oglethorpe in Atlanta on Sunday.
