2009 Women's Lacrosse: CNU Surpasses Sewanee

BOX SCORE

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee hosted Christopher Newport in women's lacrosse at Puett Field in Sewanee and after leading early, fell to the visiting Captains of Christopher Newport 19-17.

Megan Velie (Charlottesville, Va., St. Anne's- Belfield), Page Carpenter (Baltimore, Md., St. Paul's School for Girls) and Catherine Sanders (Peachtree City, Ga., Starr's Mill) led Sewanee's scoring effort with three goals apiece. Meghan Harkey led CNU with seven goals and Chrissy Rugers had six. Amy Nusbaum (Norfolk, Va., Norfolk Academy) had 11 saves in goal for the Tigers, while Gayle Robinson had seven for the Captains. Sewanee was 12-19 in clear attempts and CNU was 9-14. Both teams took 33 shots.

Sewanee closes its 2009 season at 8-5. CNU is now 12-5.
