LaGRANGE, Ga. -- Sewanee trailed 14-10 after eight innings in DIII baseball action at LaGrange on Sunday, but the stubborn Tigers didn't retreat and a 10-run ninth inning on nine hits and three walks gave Sewanee the final 20-14 win.
Rascoe Dean (Nashville, Tenn., Montgomery Bell Academy) logged five hits in the win.
Trey Axe (Austin, Texas, St. Andrew's),
Joe Reilly (Milton, Ga., Mt. Pisgah),
Taylor Irwin (Brentwood, Tenn., Battle Ground Academy) and
Franklin Pogue (Nashville, Tenn., Father Ryan) each had three hits. Pogue and senior
Taylor Burns (Dallas, Texas, Lake Highlands) each had four RBIs on the day.
Andrew Rowan (Nashville, Tenn., Father Ryan) got the win on the mound for Sewanee and JJ Martone took the loss for LaGrange.
Sewanee is now 1-3 in 2009. The Tigers will host Blackburn on Saturday and Sunday. LaGrange is 7-3 and this afternoon marked the first home loss in 2009 for the Panthers.
